Spot Treatments

After an unexpected hiatus, I’m back to finish up my Acne series. Here we go!

It always seems that the “big ones” pop up just before a big event in your life. For those nasty bumps that get worse if you pick at it, here are a few products that worked to calm the inflammation and heal those bumps more quickly:

1. Proactiv Refining Mask

This mask is great for all over the face but I found it to be more effective as a spot treatment. Even with cystic bumps, it was able to drastically reduce healing time and often left me scar free.

If you’re new to Proactiv, you can try their 30-Day Trial system for $24.99 which includes a free refining mask.

2. Acne.org Treatment

Suggested use for this product is to gently smother an index finger length all over the face. For an extra kick, I would generously apply more of the treatment to affected areas. This treatment is Benzol Peroxide based and comes in a generous size for a reasonable cost.

3. Toothpaste

The key here is to use the paste, not the gel formula. I found that gel formulas just irritate the bump and made it worse. Cheap and effective on those big nasty buggers.

4. Kate Somerville EradiKate

I LOVE this PRODUCT! It’s been a miracle worker for me. You apply this product on to the affected area using a q-tip, sleep, and BAM! The next morning, the spot is either gone, or dramatically reduced.

Cannot say how much I love, love, LOVE this product. Unfortunately, it is only available in the US or you can purchase it online at sephora.com.
